Challenge

Founded back in 1982, by Bill Lueschen, American Spraytech is a turnkey innovator and contract manufacturer of personal care, cosmetic, and OTC Drug spray products located in Branchburg, NJ. Prior to founding American Spraytech, Bill developed PAM cooking spray, Wizard Air Freshener, Easy-On Starch, Easy-Off Oven Cleaner and Woolite Rug Cleaner, among many other products!

The Mezzanine Company has worked with American Spraytech in the past on several projects, ranging from storage rack to production type work platforms and office mezzanines, at several of their facilities. Recently, they were looking to gain some additional storage and office space, due to an expansion and reorganization of their maintenance department. American Spraytech reached out to The Mezzanine Company, once again, to provide a solution.

The new platform would need to be custom designed to minimize deflection in order to accommodate some high-density shelving that would be storing machine equipment parts. Additionally, the mezzanine would need to be located in a tight space in the corner of a busy warehouse.

Solution

Working closely with American Spraytech, we came up with a proposal for a 400 square foot rectangular shaped mezzanine that would serve their needs. For the flooring, ResinDek would be used. Additionally, the mezzanine would include a straight-run OSHA stair to allow for foot traffic.

The mezzanine was custom designed with a capacity of 250lbs/psf to meet the deflection requirements of the shelving. Additionally, to maximize the space on top, the mezzanine was designed, with cutouts, to work around the electrical related obstructions along the walls. Lastly, the column locations were specially designed to create required open areas underneath.

Once the proposal was accepted, approval drawings were generated, and our project manager made a site visit to make the finishing design adjustments. Additionally, we provided PE stamped drawings, for the State of New Jersey, to be used for permitting purposes. Since this was a turnkey project, we handled the filing with the local township as well.

Once the mezzanine production was complete, we arranged for a prompt delivery and coordinated together the best installation schedule. The mezzanine was then installed by our local installation team, as planned and on time.
