Challenge

Located in Greenwich, CT, Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram City is currently the largest Chrysler Jeep store in the state of Connecticut, along with the largest Jeep inventory in the entire state.

A few years back, they had constructed a new building for their location. A section of the new building housed their parts department. Recently, their parts department was looking to gain some more space. With tall ceilings, a mezzanine was the perfect solution!

One of the challenges of the project would be to design the mezzanine around some existing conditions such as a counter area, building columns, and obstructions along the walls.

As always, we were up for the challenge.

Solution

Working closely with their President, Jon Wade, and existing architectural drawings, we provided a design for a ~1,100 square foot custom mezzanine platform. To allow the movement of large items on and off the mezzanine, a 6’ double swing gate was included in the design, and located in front of an existing overhead door. Additionally, the mezzanine included an OSHA stair, to handle the foot traffic on and off the mezzanine.

In order to meet the design requirements, the mezzanine was custom designed with specific column placements and cantilevered sections to avoid obstructions along the walls and existing columns.

Once the proposal was accepted, we worked with Jon, and the manufacturer to finalize the design quickly. Once approval drawings were ready, our project manager made a site visit to review the drawings in person and make any final updates.

After careful planning and efficient communication between all parties, the mezzanine was delivered and installed by our local installation team. The new mezzanine provided Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram City with the storage space needed in their expanded store.
