Pickleball has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years, becoming one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. It's estimated that almost 20 million people participated in pickleball in the US in 2024!
In response to the sport’s growing popularity, Performance Pickleball was planning to build a 10 court facility in the “Star City” of Roanoke, Virginia. As hosts of high-profile games and tournaments, they wanted to provide a viewing platform for spectators.
They reached out to The Mezzanine Company to provide a solution that could seamlessly integrate with their new state of the art facility.
Working closely with Performance Pickleball’s construction company, Altus Construction, we designed a ~700 square foot mezzanine that would meet their needs. The mezzanine was custom designed, with minimum columns, to maximize the space below in order to accommodate office and storage space.
For access, the mezzanine included an IBC staircase. The staircase and platform rails were finished with wire mesh handrails to complete the look.
Once the proposal was accepted and approval drawings were generated, our team made a site visit to finalize the design. Additionally, we provided PE stamped drawings for the State of Virginia to be used for permitting.
Once the mezzanine fabrication was complete, we arranged for a prompt delivery and coordinated together the best installation schedule. Altus Constructions’ team seamlessly completed the integration of our platform into the design of the facility by doing the finishing work below the mezzanine. In the end, Performance Pickleball received the required viewing space needed to successfully host their events.
