Challenge

Leland Limited is a growing company located in South Plainfield New Jersey that specializes in disposable gas filled cylinders and assembles and test dozens of products for the aerospace industry.  Their primary markets are aerospace, medical, beverage, and the safety industries.  Leland Limited recently acquired a new building and began renovating one of their older ones.  They contacted The Mezzanine Company to see if we could assist them on this project by supplying a work platform for the newly renovated space.

Customizing a platform is always a challenge particularly when the space you are building it for has not been constructed yet.  The work platform was also going to need to be an exact fit as space was limited and we wanted to create the maximum amount possible.

Solution

To solve the challenges of designing a system for an uncompleted space we had our technicians make several site visits during the construction process to ensure that we had an accurate idea of what the area would look like once the renovations were completed.

Based on this information, and working with both the manufacturer and an independent engineer, we created PE stamped approval drawings for the new work platform.  These drawings also played an important part of the permit process with the town. This allowed Leland to expand their current work permit for the renovation to include the work platform also.

For us, the drawings allowed us to design the work platform to fit exactly between three walls.  To make this possible, we employed a series of cantilever arms along one wall to get all the space possible out of the area; approximately 240 square feet.  To handle the traffic necessary for this platform, we included an IBC regulation staircase.

We also worked closely with the manufacturer, Leland Limited, our shipping company, and our installer on this project, as the renovation took longer than originally anticipated. Because of this, we needed to keep in close communication with all parties to ensure that the scheduling for everything worked out. When the renovations were complete, our team was ready to set up the installation to get Leland Limited the product they needed at a time that worked for them.

What Our Customers Say...

It is always my intention to do business with companies that put customer service and satisfaction in the forefront. When we needed a mezzanine to expand storage in one of our rooms we looked for a company that we felt could fit the bill and The Mezzanine Company certainly did just that.
