Challenge

Headquartered in Sayreville, NJ, Sabert Corporation is a “global manufacturer of innovative food packaging products and solutions”. They have manufacturing facilities all over the United States, and also in China and Belgium. Over the past several years, The Mezzanine Company has worked with Sabert on mezzanine projects at their Sayreville, NJ location.

Earlier this year, Sabert reached out to The Mezzanine Company about providing a mezzanine for their California location. The mezzanine would be used as an equipment platform to support a cooling tower.

The platform would have to be manufactured specially for outdoor use and would need to support a cooling tower weighing over 20,000lbs. It would also have to be designed and built for California’s seismic conditions.

Solution

One of our staff members was able to quote the project using drawings and specifications that Sabert provided. The mezzanine would be approximately 400 square feet and have a deck height of around 15’. The platform also was designed with a caged ladder to provide easy access to the cooling tower.

Once the mezzanine was manufactured, it was given a hot-dipped galvanized finish to optimize it for outdoor use.

In addition to installing the mezzanine, The Mezzanine Company provided other turnkey services to Sabert to make sure that the mezzanine project was handled from start to finish. For example, the city required special inspections of the bolts and anchors. We took on hiring a special inspector to perform these inspections so the customer would not have to. Also, utilizing our local representative, we also visited, pre-installation, numerous times to verify and coordinate all details, including meeting with the customer’s footing contractor.

We look forward to working with Sabert on their next project.
