Thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America, Poway, CA
Thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America, Inc. has been a reliable partner of the global automotive industry for over 100 years with its experience in materials, components, and systems as well as plant engineering.
Recently, they were looking to make use of the available vertical space in their facility to create additional storage space for shipping boxes. Previously, they had been stored outdoors, but they had decided to move them indoors to protect them from the elements.
Since this would be going into an existing warehouse, the mezzanine would need to be custom designed to work around any obstructions and ongoing operations on the ground floor. Additionally, the customer was looking to avoid the costly installation of footings.
Working closely with Thyssenkrupp Bilstein, we came up with a design for a rectangular shaped 800 square foot platform that would serve their needs. For the flooring, Resindek would be used.
The platform included two sliding gates to enable them to load and unload materials from the platform and an L-shaped IBC staircase for employee access.
After having an initial design, we performed a slab analysis and then spread the columns and bracing in such a way to not overload the existing slab and also to avoid footings. Additionally, we cantilevered the deck over the columns, on one side, in order to give them some more deck space without placing columns in their travel space.
Once the approval drawings were generated, our local project manager made a site visit to make the finishing design adjustments. Additionally, P.E. Stamped Drawings, for the State of CA, were provided for the permitting process.
When the platform production was complete, we arranged for a prompt delivery and coordinated together the best installation schedule.
What Our Customers Say...
It is always my intention to do business with companies that put customer service and satisfaction in the forefront. When we needed a mezzanine to expand storage in one of our rooms we looked for a company that we felt could fit the bill and The Mezzanine Company certainly did just that.
