Family owned and operated since 2000, Athena Manufacturing offers precision machining, precision fabrication, mechanical assembly, and mechanical design services. They have over 20 years of experience with manufacturing aerospace, oilfield, medical, semiconductor, and motorsports parts. Whether in the technology space or aerospace & defense sector, they pride themselves on having the capability and resources to manufacture parts for any industry affordably.

Recently, they were looking to increase their storage space. In order to do so, they were looking to make use of some of the unused air space in their warehouse. A storage mezzanine was the perfect solution.

Since this would be going into an active warehouse, we would need to be able to both design the mezzanine to work into an existing layout and minimize the impact to operations during the install.

Working closely with Athena Manufacturing, we came up with a design for a ~2,000 square foot custom platform that would serve their needs. For the flooring, bar grating would be used. The platform included two 5’ sliding gates to enable them to load and unload materials from the platform and one IBC staircase for employee access.

In order to customize the design to their needs, we custom designed the column locations based on their existing warehouse layout. Additionally, to provide them maximize clearance underneath the mezzanine, we custom designed the column sizes and made use of corner braces for stability, in order to avoid using x-bracing.

Once the approval drawings were generated, our local project manager made a site visit to make the finishing design adjustments. Additionally, P.E. Stamped Drawings, for the State of TX, were provided for the permitting process.

When the platform production was complete, we arranged for a prompt delivery and coordinated together the best installation schedule.  In the end, Athena Manufacturing ended up with the required space needed for storage, with a minimal impact to operations.
