Challenge
Since 1959, Bell-Mark has successfully designed, manufactured, and serviced high-performance coding, marking, and printing products for the industrial marketplace, reaching over 15,000 companies throughout the world! In industries, like medical devices, pharmaceutical, and prepared foods, where product and package must be accurately identified, they can satisfy your printing and coding needs whether you require text, bar codes, graphics, or a combination.
Recently, they were looking to make more use of the vertical space in their facility to make room for more shelving for parts storage. Bell-Mark reached out to The Mezzanine Company to provide a solution.
To maximize the space, we would need to incorporate the platform into an existing, actively used space below. Additionally, we would need to work around multiple obstructions such as an air duct and a building column.
Solution
Working closely with Bell-Mark, we came up with a design for a rectangular shape shaped ~2,000 square foot platform that would serve their needs. For the flooring, Resindek with a Grey Diamond Seal would be used for a more durable finish.
The platform was custom designed, with a specific shape and column placement, to fit perfectly around an overhead door and shelving below. It would also include a 6’ double swing gate to enable them to load and unload materials from the platform. The platform also included an IBC staircase for employee access.
Once the approval drawings were generated, our local project manager made a site visit to make the finishing design adjustments. Additionally, P.E. Stamped Drawings, for the State of PA, were provided for the permitting process.
As production neared completion, our installation manager made a pre-installation visit to assess the site and make sure that disruption to their operations could be minimized. When the platform production was complete, we arranged for a prompt delivery and coordinated together the best installation schedule. We were able to install with minimal impact to their daily operations as highlighted by a testimonial we received from the customer.
