Challenge

Back in 1986, Lou and Sherri Cecchini opened the doors of Off Shore Marine in a 900 square foot rented space. In the past 32 years, they’ve grown the business into the largest new and pre-owned inboard boat inventory in NJ.

Recently, they have been looking to gain some additional space in their facility. In order to gain the space needed for expanding their sales area (as well as some product accessory displays), the owner decided to make use of the open air space in their showroom.

One of the challenges of the project would be that the mezzanine would have to fit against three walls in their showroom. One wall had full length glass, another had several doors and panels of glass, and the third wall had an offset along with an electrical panel in the corner.

Additionally, the stairs would need to be specifically designed to work around an existing ceiling beam while still maximizing the ground floor space.

Solution

After making a site visit and meeting with Off Shore Marine, The Mezzanine Company proposed an approximate 300 square foot mezzanine.

The mezzanine would include wire mesh railing and a straight run IBC staircase, in order to meet local code. The staircase was custom designed to be inset into the middle of the mezzanine, in order to help maximize the floor space on the showroom floor. Additionally, it was positioned in such a way to provide enough head clearance under the existing ceiling beam.

As seen in the photos, the mezzanine was custom designed to fit nicely against the three walls of the showroom.

The project was approved, produced, and installed within only a few months’ time frame. This was important as they wanted all the work on their showroom to be completed during the slow season, and prior to their seasonal open house event.

Lou Cecchini, the owner, had this to say about our service: “Your company followed up right away, answered all my questions and kept me informed through the whole process. Not many companies do that. You kept appointments and deadlines.”
