Retro Fitness owner, Rob Jennis contacted The Mezzanine Company to assist on the construction of the latest Retro Fitness in the Jacksonville area. We had previously worked on another location in the area in Jacksonville, FL. This new facility would include the many amenities that Retro Fitness is known for, like a smoothie bar, a cardio movie theatre, tanning booths, and much more.

In order to provide these amenities, Retro Fitness would need to maximize the space at their new location. They decided the best way to do this was to include a cardio deck in their plans for their new facility.

Some special consideration of this project would be:

• The mezzanine would need to be designed to integrate with the existing architecture plans for the new location
• The mezzanine would be need to be designed for movement caused by exercise equipment

Working closing with the owners and architect for the project, The Mezzanine Company provided a proposal for an approximate 900 square foot custom rectangle shaped mezzanine. The mezzanine would include one straight IBC stairs and wire mesh handrail.

Additionally, in order to the mezzanine was designed to handle the deflection from the exercise machines.

Once the proposal was approved, we sent our local representative to the new location to review the drawings and make final adjustments.

After careful planning between all parties, the mezzanine was delivered and installed at the new location. The installation timing was planned around the rest of the construction, so as to keep the project on schedule. The new cardio deck enhanced Retro Fitness’ workout experience by creating valuable additional space for their new exercise equipment.
