Mezzanine for Gym

Insite Construction, the GC for a new Retro Fitness location in Newtown Square, contacted The Mezzanine Company to assist on the construction of a mezzanine / cardiodeck for the latest Retro Fitness in the Philadelphia area. The Mezzanine Company had previously worked on mezzanines for over a dozen Retro Fitness locations. This new facility would include the many amenities that Retro Fitness is known for, like a smoothie bar, a cardio movie theatre, tanning booths, and much more.

In order to provide these amenities, Retro Fitness would need to maximize the space at their new location. They decided the best way to do this was to include a large cardio deck in their plans for their new facility.

Some special considerations of this project would be:

  1. Integrating the mezzanine with the existing architectural plans for the new location
  2. Designing the mezzanine for movement caused by exercise equipment

Working closely with the construction company and architect for the project, The Mezzanine Company provided a proposal for an approximately 1,700 square foot custom L-shaped mezzanine / cardiodeck.

The mezzanine would include 2 straight IBC stairs and wire mesh handrail. The mezzanine was custom designed to handle the movement and deflection from the exercise machines.

Additionally, The Mezzanine Company provided extra wire mesh railing to divide other areas of the gym.

Once the proposal was approved and drawings were ready, our project managers visited the new location to review the drawings and make final adjustments.

After careful planning between all parties, the mezzanine was delivered and installed at the new location. The installation timing was planned around the rest of the construction, so as to keep the project on schedule. The new cardio deck enhanced Retro Fitness’ workout experience by creating valuable additional space for their new exercise equipment.
